The sign for Big Louie’s Gentlemen’s Club was large and perched on top of a hill that blocked the club itself from being seen from the road. Big Louie was spelled out in oversized purple light bulbs. A woman’s crossed legs sat on top of the B.

“Please tell me that’s not it,” Maria said.

Michael didn’t say anything.

He slowed down as they approached the turnoff and pulled into the winding drive that turned right and then came around left behind the hill. Big Louie’s club consisted of an oversized parking lot, a pool, a single story squat building with an old-fashioned horse hitching post out front, and two buildings that looked like a motel. The parking lot had two tractor trailers, and in front of the hitching post was a big purple F-150 with oversized tires and one of those exhausts that belched black smoke.

“Fifty bucks says that truck belongs to Big Louie,” Maria said.

“That’s a bet only a fool would take,” Michael said.

“So you’re taking the bet?” Maria said.
